LCC Swim Coach, Dave Caldwell… and Company
Dave is also the Aquatics Manager at Santa Fe Community College directing the classes and trainings that take place there. He has fifteen years of experience as a college swim coach, is Red Cross trained and certified in life guarding and water safety.
The beautiful indoor Las Campanas Pool is not the only place Dave lends his expertise. He is Head Coach for the local “Santa Fe Prep” swim team; which this year consists of ten young men and three young women.
The Las Campanas Compadres students of various ages would all agree that Dave is adept at tuning in to their particular skill level. He makes class time fun while providing them with the therapeutic exercises and movement goals to make them better swimmers and/or to help strengthen their bodies.
The “…and Company” in today’s blog title, refers to the generous volunteers who donate their time to assist Dave during the half-hour lessons. The LCC students enjoy the humor of Marty and Doug who encourage them through their laps, or exercises or swimming levels.
Dave tells us there are some LCC students who should be proud of their efforts because they are ready to “graduate” from the program. Since they have progressed through all the levels Dave has taught them, they can now independently swim.
To inquire about signing up for the swim program for someone who has a disability (all ages) in your family, or to volunteer, please call the LCC number: 505-820-2707.
